Save Paper
People print too much, and whether you use recycled paper or not, we are using up resources which we simply do not need to use. Printing off an email to read once, then putting it in the recycling bin is not ’being green’.
Your business needs to make people aware of how much is being printed, and then ask the question: ’Why?’
We are only beginning to realise the impact we are having on our planet, and of course recycling is key to reducing our damage. Some people point out that with sustainable forests the need for recycling is reduced. Whilst this can be a valid point, it means a company has to ensure its paper comes from the right source. A look at the Forest Stewardship Council website helps with this. The website Paper Back has a page that looks at the myths and fact about recycled paper.
When a business starts to look at the amount of paper it is using it has to view the project as long term. People fall into a habit with their printing, and we all know how hard it is to break a habit. Even something as small as the email signature "Do You Need To Print This Email?" can remind people that they should be reducing their printing. Some companies have made it harder to get hold of new paper, or moved the store further away. All these tactics highlight to people how much paper they are using, though be careful not to annoy staff.
